Trump Issues Reformation Day Presidential Message: Faith Is the Foundation of America's Strength, and People of Faith Will Always Be Defended in the Public Square

WASHINGTON — The White House on October 31 released President Donald J. Trump's Presidential Message on Reformation Day. In the message, Trump sent his best wishes to Christians across the country commemorating the Protestant Reformation, saying its enduring message is salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Reformation Day falls on October 31 and is observed in the Protestant tradition to commemorate the Reformation.

The message looked back five hundred years: William Tyndale, inspired by the work of Martin Luther, advanced the Reformation's devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles that would fortify the faith and resolve of America's founding generation. The message said the Sacred Scriptures helped form the religious convictions that formed the young nation's founding ideals of God-given rights and individual liberty, a spiritual inheritance honored as the country reflects on 250 years of American independence. The Bible, it said, remains a cornerstone of the nation's character and upholds Americans' steadfast devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"Guided by an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, my Administration is working to restore the moral and religious foundations that have sustained our Republic for generations," Trump said in the message. "As President, I will always support citizens of faith and defend their place in the public square," he said, honoring the enduring role of churches in strengthening families, serving communities, and preserving the core values that have anchored the country across the centuries.

The message closed with Trump's heartfelt prayers for a meaningful celebration as Christians across the country unite in faith and fellowship this Reformation Day, encouraging each of them to draw renewed strength from God's Word as the blessings of faith and freedom are carried forward throughout the nation.
