All Saints' Day: Pope Leo XIV to Lead Angelus Today and Celebrate All Souls' Mass at Rome's Verano Cemetery Tomorrow

November 1 is the Solemnity of All Saints in the Catholic Church. According to the liturgical schedule published by the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV will lead the Angelus at noon Rome time today in St. Peter's Square. Tomorrow, November 2, All Souls' Day, he will celebrate Mass at 4 p.m. at Rome's Campo Verano cemetery.
The Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff released the pope's November liturgical schedule on October 27. In addition to today's Angelus and tomorrow's cemetery Mass, the pope will celebrate Mass in St. Peter's Basilica on November 5 at 9 a.m. for the cardinals and bishops who died in the past year, and on November 18 at 5 p.m. for the 400th anniversary of the dedication of St. Peter's Basilica.
The pope underwent thoracoscopic surgery on October 13 to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. He returned to the window of the Apostolic Palace to lead the Sunday Angelus on October 18, and his doctors cleared him to travel on October 21. From November 6 to 17, he will make an apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru, celebrating nine Masses.
All Saints' Day and the All Souls' Day that follows it are two linked observances at the start of November: the first honors all the saints and the faithful in heaven, and the second is devoted to prayer for the dead, when many of the faithful visit cemeteries to remember loved ones.
