Anaheim: Disneyland Eastern Gateway Plan Adjusted — Parking Structure Scaled Back from 8 to 7 Levels

[ANAHEIM] Anaheim is a city in Orange County, California. According to Disneyland news outlet mickeyvisit, a construction permit filed with the City of Anaheim in October 2026 shows Disney is adjusting its large-scale Disneyland Eastern Gateway expansion: the parking structure is being scaled back from 8 levels to 7, with total floor area reduced from 3,257,394 square feet to 3,115,680 square feet — a decrease of 141,714 square feet.
That translates to roughly 750 fewer parking spaces than originally planned, bringing the total to 5,250 from 6,000. The permit also shows EV chargers in the structure increasing from 302 to 316. No reason was given for the changes.
The Eastern Gateway broke ground in August 2026 on the site of a former cast member parking lot and administrative building east of the Disney theme parks. Beyond the parking structure, the project will add a new rideshare and bus drop-off/pick-up zone, a new security checkpoint, and a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard connecting the Eastern Gateway to the Esplanade, the plaza between the two theme park entrances.
It is one of the largest infrastructure projects at the Disneyland Resort in recent years and will significantly reshape traffic and guest flow on the resort's east side. Chinese families driving to the parks will want to note the changes to parking, rideshare access and security screening routes once it opens; GSM will continue to follow the project.
