Atlanta Council Votes 10-1 to Set Aside Up to $1 Million for Peachtree Creek Restoration

Atlanta is a city in Fulton County, Georgia. Atlanta media reported that the City Council voted 10-1 to set aside up to $1 million in water and sewer funds for the Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy's Peachtree Creek restoration project, contingent on the project winning a $3 million Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program grant. The work would restore about 3,000 feet of Peachtree Creek on the park's east side, including a stretch in front of the new Atlanta Opera. Councilmember Kelsea Bond cast the no vote. The hold on the funds ends if the state grant is not awarded.
