Austin Airport Warns of Post-ACL Crunch: More Than 35,000 Departures Expected Oct. 5 and Oct. 12

Austin is a city in Travis County, Texas. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport told travelers on October 1, 2026 that the two Mondays following the Austin City Limits Music Festival weekends — October 5 and October 12 — will be its busiest fly-home days of the season, with more than 35,000 departing passengers expected on each day.
ACL Fest runs October 2–4 and October 9–11 at Zilker Park. The airport urged passengers to treat those Mondays like a holiday peak: arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic departures and 3 hours before international flights, use mobile boarding passes, reserve parking in advance, and skip the ticket counter if traveling without checked bags. The airport's four security checkpoints serve all gates, with the first opening at 3 a.m.; TSA PreCheck, Clear and active-duty military lanes are located at Checkpoint 2.
