Austin Police Make Multiple Arrests in Operation "Protect Our Parks"
Austin is a city in Travis County, Texas. The Austin Police Department announced on October 2 that its South Metro Tactical Unit made multiple arrests in Operation "Protect Our Parks" near the free-use area of Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park. Police said robberies, vehicle burglaries, and narcotics offenses rose in the area from January through June, prompting an investigation from August through September.
During the September 24 arrests, officers seized six firearms and ammunition, along with about nine pounds of marijuana, roughly 51 grams of cocaine, and other drugs. Four arrested individuals and their charges are listed in the release, and tips can be submitted anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
