Austin readies Zilker Park’s Great Lawn for ACL Weekend Two, with phased turf recovery after the festival
Austin is a city in Travis County, Texas. Austin Parks and Recreation said city crews and event partners worked through the week to make Zilker Park’s Great Lawn safe and ready for Weekend Two of the ACL Music Festival. Crews removed temporary turf, trash and leftover materials, leveled ruts, aerated the lawn, confirmed irrigation was working, and kept watering through the weekend, while lawn protection and artificial turf were placed in high-traffic and dust-prone areas.
After the post-event load-out, the city and organizers will continue site assessments and keep portions of the Great Lawn closed for turf recovery, soil restoration and compaction relief. The city said event organizers are committed to restoring the festival areas to their previous condition or better at no cost to taxpayers, with sections reopening as work allows; visitors can check the city’s park-closure page and the ACL Mobility Guide for updates.
