Cook County Marks U.S.-China Friendship Day with Chinese American Community at Daley Plaza

Chicago is a city in Cook County, Illinois. Cook County officials joined members of the Chicago-area Chinese American community on September 30 for a U.S.-China Friendship Day celebration at Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago, featuring a flag-raising ceremony. A public reception followed across the street at 118 N. Clark Street, where local community leaders received Certificates of Excellence. Organized with the Greater Chicago Chinese Association of Overseas Chinese and Chinese Americans, the event came on the eve of China's National Day. Organizers said this year's gathering carried added significance as the United States marks its 250th anniversary, focusing on friendship, exchange, community integration, and a shared future. The Cook County Treasurer's office noted the Chinese diaspora in Cook County numbers more than 135,000 people, with Chinatown and civic groups represented among the honorees.
