Chicago's Five-Year Divvy Contract Extension Moves Through City Council Review

Chicago is a city in Cook County, Illinois. A proposed five-year Divvy contract extension from Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Lyft is moving through City Council committee review this week. The plan would extend Lyft's agreement to operate Chicago's Divvy system into 2033, building on record ridership to keep expanding and modernizing the city's bike- and scooter-share network.
Under the city proposal, annual membership prices would be frozen, non-member rides starting or ending on the South and West Sides would get a 50% discount, scooter prices would drop, future increases would be capped, and the system would add upgraded classic bikes, more e-bikes and stations. City officials say the goal is affordable, safe connections to jobs, schools and transit in every neighborhood.
