Chicago Council Votes 46-3 to Approve $2.53 Billion Parking Meter Deal
Chicago is a city in Cook County, Illinois. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the City Council voted 46-3 on Tuesday, October 13, to approve Stonepeak Partners' $2.53 billion acquisition of Chicago's parking meter system. Under the terms, the city receives a $75 million transfer fee, 5 percent of net income, and 2 percent of any resale price before 2084. The agreement also extends special-event meter closures from 6 to 10 hours, seven times a year. The report was published on October 14.
