Dallas Voters to Decide $443M Public Safety Bond in November

Dallas is a city in Dallas County, Texas. Dallas voters will decide a $443 million public safety bond package on the November ballot, bundled as a single proposition covering five projects. The plan sets aside $150 million for evidence storage and a crime laboratory, $149 million for a police training complex, and $82 million to finish the police academy at the University of North Texas at Dallas. Another $40 million would build a new emergency operations center, moving 911 dispatch out of City Hall, and $22 million would replace downtown Fire Station No. 4. City officials estimate total repayment above $629 million over twenty years without raising the tax rate, while critics question new debt so soon after the 2024 bond.
