Friday, October 16, 2026 · City · GSM News

Dallas is a city in Dallas County, Texas. The Dallas Police Department released body-camera video on October 16 from a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place on October 14 at a motel along Interstate 35E in southern Dallas. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said at a Friday news conference that the case remains under investigation, and that it was the department's 11th officer-involved shooting this year. The man who died was identified as Raul Casas, 41.

According to investigators, Casas was wanted on several felony warrants connected to domestic violence, drug offenses and evading arrest. Officers had spotted him driving in the area earlier on October 14 but lost sight of him; Comeaux said officers then used Flock camera technology to track his vehicle to the motel and ordered him to come out of a room he had entered with another person.

Police said Casas exited the room pointing a long gun at officers, who ordered him to drop the weapon and then shot him. Maj. Bobbie Epperson said Casas fell and dropped a handgun, picked it up again while an officer continued ordering him to drop it, and seconds later shot himself.
