Denver names 26-member data center advisory group; moratorium may extend past May

Wednesday, October 7, 2026 · City · GSM News

Denver is a city in Denver County, Colorado (a consolidated city-county). Denver's mayor and city council on Oct. 7 named a 26-member advisory group of residents and experts to recommend policy on data center growth, warning developers the city's one-year moratorium on new data centers could extend beyond next May. The council adopted the pause unanimously in May; it does not affect built or under-construction facilities. About 50 data centers operate in the city. The group will study zoning, power use, cooling and renewable energy. (GSM, from City of Denver and Denver Post reporting)
