Escondido Names Deputy Chief Tyler Batson as Fire Chief

Escondido is a city in San Diego County, California. Escondido has a new fire chief. City Manager Sean McGlynn has named Deputy Fire Chief Tyler Batson to lead the Escondido Fire Department after a nationwide search. Batson had served as interim chief for nearly a year.
He brings more than two decades of public-safety experience: he joined the department as a firefighter paramedic in 2003 and rose through every rank — engineer, captain, battalion chief, division chief and deputy chief. Earlier, he graduated from Stanford University and served eight years with U.S. Navy SEAL Team Three. The city says he will focus on legendary service and on strengthening resilience against regional threats such as wildfire. (GSM, from the City of Escondido website)
