Honolulu Airport Near Bottom of J.D. Power 2026 Survey as Aging Terminals Drag Scores Down

Honolulu is a city in Honolulu County, Hawaii (a consolidated city-county). Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport ranked near the bottom of the latest J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported on October 5. In the 'large airport' category (10 million to 32.9 million passengers a year), Honolulu scored 604 out of 1,000, placing 23rd among 24 airports and ahead of only Philadelphia (596). Tampa International led the group at 715. The result marked a slide from Honolulu's 617 score in 2025, even as satisfaction across the large-airport group rose by 13 points. Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen noted that the comparison group itself changed between the two studies and that major storms also influenced the results. J.D. Power's Michael Taylor put it more bluntly: the larger story is that the airport is old, and the building is holding it back. The 2026 study is based on 24,710 surveys fielded from July 2025 through July 2026. Source: Honolulu Star-Advertiser
