Saturday, October 3, 2026 · City · GSM News

Houston is a city in Harris County, Texas. The 20th-ranked Houston Cougars produced one of the season's wildest comebacks on Saturday, October 3, erasing a 17-0 third-quarter deficit to beat UCF 27-17 at TDECU Stadium. UCF quarterback Keyone Jenkins scrambled for a 5-yard touchdown to build a three-score lead with about six minutes left in the third quarter, seemingly putting the Knights on course to end a 10-game road losing streak. Instead, Houston scored 27 unanswered points.

Quarterback Conner Weigman rallied the Cougars on four straight scoring drives, highlighted by a 43-yard strike to Trent Walker. Jonathan Dimas kicked a 40-yard field goal with 4:14 left to put Houston ahead 24-17, then added a 46-yarder with 1:56 remaining. UCF's final three drives netted 11 yards on nine plays with an interception. Entering the day, FBS teams were 3-130 when trailing by 17 or more in the second half; it was Houston's largest comeback since rallying from 19 down against Memphis four years ago.
