Houston Dynamo Extend Head Coach Ben Olsen Through 2027-28 Season
The Houston Dynamo announced on October 21 that head coach Ben Olsen has signed a contract extension through the 2027-28 MLS season. Olsen, who took over ahead of the 2023 campaign, has led the Dynamo to the MLS Cup Playoffs three times in four seasons, including 2026.
Olsen previously managed D.C. United from 2010 to 2020. He ranks seventh in MLS history with 164 regular-season wins and led Houston to the 2023 U.S. Open Cup title. Club president Pat Onstad said Olsen has reestablished the team's identity and built a competitive, resilient culture. The Dynamo currently sit fifth in the Western Conference at 13-9-8 with 47 points and have clinched a playoff berth. Olsen was named MLS Coach of the Year in 2014. (GSM, from Reuters reporting)
