Las Vegas Breaks Ground on 70-Acre "Foundry" Redevelopment Bringing About 1,000 Homes to Cashman Site

Friday, October 16, 2026 · City · GSM News

Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada. City and state leaders joined homebuilder Lennar on October 15 for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the Cashman Center, launching The Foundry, a planned 70-acre downtown redevelopment near Las Vegas Boulevard and East Washington Avenue, by Interstate 11. The project covers the sites of the former Grant Sawyer state office building and Cashman Field.

Plans call for about 1,000 homes — single-family houses and townhomes across six collections — with initial prices expected to start in the $300,000s. Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, whose Ward 5 includes the area, said amenities will include pools, dog parks and children's parks. Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2027. Mayor Shelley Berkley said the city hopes the project will expand homeownership opportunities, and Gov. Joe Lombardo also attended the groundbreaking.

Cashman Field opened in 1983 and has hosted baseball, soccer, political rallies and community events. The Las Vegas Lights, who have played there for nine seasons, will say farewell to the stadium at their home game this Saturday. No demolition date has been set; demolition is not expected before the land sale is finalized, which is anticipated by the end of 2026.
