Las Vegas Committee Forwards Parking-Code Overhaul to City Council: Bill 2026-34 Adds a Parking Maximum and the City's First Bicycle-Parking Standards

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · City · GSM News

The City of Las Vegas recommending committee, in Clark County, Nevada, voted on October 19 to forward Bill 2026-34 to the City Council. The bill is a wide-ranging amendment to LVMC 19.12 that updates minimum parking requirements, adds a maximum cap, creates conditions to exceed or reduce parking, and establishes the city's first bicycle-parking standards.

Committee Chair and sponsor Councilman Brian Knudsen moved the item to Council with a first amendment removing an extra required parking space for accessory dwelling units, and the committee approved the measure with the amendment. City staff cited vacancy and parking-demand data in support of the changes.

Advocates at the meeting urged incentives and a cyclist-rated parking inventory. The bill now goes to the full Las Vegas City Council for consideration. (Compiled from Citizen Portal's record of the October 19 recommending committee meeting)
