Ground Broken on Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue Bus Lanes for 35,000 Daily Riders

New York City is a city in Kings County, New York. New York City's mayor and Transportation Department announced on October 6 that work has begun to redesign Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue in Brooklyn, adding offset and curbside bus lanes plus safety upgrades for about 35,000 daily riders on the corridor, including the B6 and B82, Brooklyn's busiest and fourth-busiest bus routes. Buses on Bay Parkway currently crawl at speeds as low as 3 miles per hour.
Both streets are Vision Zero priority corridors: four people were killed and 26 seriously injured in crashes there between 2021 and 2025. The project adds 18 new median islands and dedicated left-turn lanes at 14 intersections, as part of the city-state Fast Buses partnership covering 175 routes, nearly 75 percent of the city's bus network.
