OC Public Libraries Pack October: Min Jin Lee Author Talk, Halloween Movies and a Free-Burger Reading Club

Los Angeles is a city in Los Angeles County, California. OC Public Libraries have packed October with events, headlined by three author talks: Min Jin Lee on Monday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m. at La Habra City Hall; Elizabeth Acevedo on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Laguna Hills Community Center; and Walter Mosley on October 28 at 7 p.m. at the Tustin Library — no registration required for Mosley's talk, with a limited number of free books while supplies last.
Halloween gets its share, too: branches are running a "Spooky Month" from October 1 to 31, and the San Juan Capistrano library's outdoor movie nights feature ParaNorman on October 9, Beetlejuice on October 16 and The Book of Life on November 6, all starting at 6 p.m.
Hispanic Heritage Month programming runs through October 15. And the offer most likely to motivate young readers: In-N-Out's "Cover to Cover" reading club, running October 3 to November 14, gives children ages 4–12 a free burger for reading five books (or 300 minutes).
Most events are free — an easy weekend option for Chinese-American families in Southern California. Check with your local OC Public Libraries branch for details.
