Palm Springs Asks Residents to Help Shape Shade and Heat Plan; Next Listening Session Oct. 15
Palm Springs is a city in Riverside County, California. The City of Palm Springs Sustainability Department is gathering resident input for its comprehensive shade and heat mitigation plan through a series of community listening sessions — the first was held Oct. 7 at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, with the next set for Oct. 15, 6-7:30 p.m., at the Demuth Community Center, followed by sessions Oct. 26, Nov. 4 and Nov. 12 (virtual). The free meetings offer food and childcare, and residents' experiences with extreme heat will help the city decide where new shade trees, shelters and cooling infrastructure are needed most.
