Maricopa County Recorder Addresses 3,126 Early Ballots Mailed Ahead of Schedule

Phoenix is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Maricopa County Recorder's Office said on October 4 that its vendor, Runbeck Election Services, mistakenly mailed 3,126 early ballots on October 1, six days ahead of the scheduled October 7 mailing, without authorization. The office confirmed the correct ballots went to the correct voters.
After consulting the County Attorney, the office determined the ballots remain valid and will not be voided or reissued; voters may return them as usual. Ballots received before early voting begins will stay sealed in secure storage. Runbeck accepted responsibility and pledged added controls, and no voters were adversely affected.
