Pittsburgh Names Permanent Fire Chief in Three Leadership Appointments

Pittsburgh is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. On October 2, Pittsburgh's mayor made acting fire chief Mat Davis the permanent head of the city Bureau of Fire, a role Davis had filled for about four months. A firefighter since 2004, Davis previously led a suburban department and later joined the city bureau overseeing community risk reduction, also mentoring new recruits. Two other acting officials were elevated the same day: the director of the Office of Management and Budget, who also serves as chief financial officer, and the director of Innovation and Performance, who serves as chief information officer. The administration said the moves bring stability to public safety, budgeting and technology operations as the city faces a tight fiscal outlook.
