Pittsburgh is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Penguins survived a wild Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena on October 3, beating the Montreal Canadiens 6-5 after Tommy Novak scored his second goal of the game 1:33 into overtime. Novak finished the winner on a wrist shot from the right circle off a pass from Evgeni Malkin on a 2-on-1.

Pittsburgh appeared in control after building a 5-1 lead. Cole Caufield opened the scoring for Montreal, but Malkin tied the game on a first-period power play; Declan Carlile and Samuel Girard scored in the second period, Novak made it 4-1, and Ben Kindel's power-play goal pushed the margin to four. Montreal refused to fold: Nick Suzuki, who finished with a goal and three assists, set up Chris Kreider with 1:08 left and Ivan Demidov 44 seconds later, both with goaltender Jakub Dobes pulled, to tie the game 5-5.

Malkin had a goal and two assists for Pittsburgh, Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang each had two assists, and Arturs Silovs made 20 saves. Caufield scored twice and Dobes made 24 saves for Montreal.
