Sacramento Extends Cooling Centers Through Oct. 10 With Free Transit Rides

Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. Sacramento extended its weather-respite cooling operations through October 10 during a National Weather Service heat advisory. The Outreach and Engagement Center at 3615 Auburn Blvd. runs from 10 a.m. Oct. 3 to 8 a.m. Oct. 10, accepts walk-ups for up to 50 guests, offers storage and allows pets; the North 5th Street Navigation Center is open daily 1–8 p.m. through Oct. 9 for up to 20 adults, without pets.
Libraries and community centers remain available during normal hours, and SacRT is providing no-cost rides to and from activated respite centers with a flyer screenshot or printout. Residents needing help can call 211, while the city continues monitoring forecasts and capacity.
