Pinehurst Light Rail Station Opens Nearly Five Years Early in North Seattle

Seattle is a city in King County, Washington. Sound Transit opened Pinehurst Station on September 30 in North Seattle, its first station added to an already operating line. Located near Northeast 130th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast, the stop arrived nearly five years ahead of its original 2031 target after agency leaders voted in 2020 and 2022 to move construction forward. Riders can now reach the University District in under ten minutes, downtown in under twenty, and the airport in about an hour. The station includes bike lockers, accessible drop-off space, and a connection to King County Metro's new Route 77, linking Bitter Lake, Lake City, and the U District. Trains run from early morning until midnight, with service every few minutes at peak times.
