U District Chow Down Returns October 3 With $6 Bites From More Than 70 Seattle Restaurants

Seattle is a city in King County, Washington. Seattle's University District hosted its tastiest day of the year on Saturday, October 3, as the annual U District Chow Down & Street Party ran from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. More than 70 local restaurants took part, each offering $6 bites, with live entertainment turning the neighborhood beside the University of Washington into an all-day street party.
The U District Partnership billed the event as the district's most delicious day of the year, built around a simple idea: one low, uniform price lets students, residents and visitors sample several restaurants in a single outing. For UW students just weeks into the fall term, the Chow Down doubles as an introduction to the dining map along University Way — "The Ave" — while for small restaurants it is a storefront window aimed at turning passersby into regulars.
The same U District newsletter highlighted the City of Seattle's Back to Business grants available to local shops: up to $5,000 per incident from the Storefront Repair Fund for vandalism repairs and up to $10,000 from the Storefront Security Fund for improvements such as locks and window film. Since 2025, 18 U District businesses have received more than $46,000 through the program.
