Tampa Café Emergency-Closed Oct. 1 for Roach Activity in Statewide Restaurant Sweep

Thursday, October 1, 2026 · City · GSM News

Tampa is a city in Hillsborough County, Florida. State inspection records show that on October 1, 2026, Florida inspectors emergency-closed Pepo's Café at 3879 Northdale Boulevard in Tampa after finding roach activity. The café cleared reinspection and reopened at 2:42 p.m. that afternoon — the longest closure of the week.

Pepo's was one of nine Florida restaurants emergency-closed during the week of October 1, seven of them for pest activity deemed severe enough to pull the operating license on the spot. Other October 1 closures included restaurants in Jacksonville, Davie and Naples for roach activity, and an Ellenton location for rodent activity; most reopened within hours after passing reinspection. Emergency closures are temporary, but the findings remain in the state's public inspection database — a record consumers can check before choosing where to eat.
