Downtown Tampa Designated a Special Event Zone on October 2
Tampa is a city in Hillsborough County, Florida. The Tampa Police Department announced that a Special Event Zone would be in effect in the downtown area on Friday, October 2. During that period, residents can expect a heavier law-enforcement presence, higher fines and possible impoundment of vehicles involved in violations.
The city says similar zones may be set up in other locations in the future when needed for public safety, and notes that parents and organizers may face civil liability in related cases. Drivers and eventgoers heading downtown were advised to expect stepped-up enforcement.
