Tampa Police Arrest Suspect in Nebraska Avenue Homicide After Canvass Leads to Identification

Tampa is a city in Hillsborough County, Florida. Tampa Police announced on Saturday, October 3, that they had arrested a man in connection with the deadly shooting that happened on September 22, 2026, on Nebraska Ave near McEwen Ave. The break came during a neighborhood canvass on October 2, when detectives went door to door passing out flyers with pictures of the suspect. An individual identified Michael Knobloch as the person in the flyers, and shortly afterward Knobloch turned himself in at Orient Road Jail.
Knobloch is charged with Murder in the First-Degree Premeditated Firearm – Great Bodily Harm/Death. Acting Chief Brett Owen commended the detectives who remained committed to getting justice for the victim's family and thanked community members whose information helped identify the suspect, saying the department hopes the arrest brings some sense of accountability to the family as they grieve.
The City of Tampa said the case remains an active investigation and that additional updates will be provided as available.
