PandaEar Recalls About 9,700 Portable Hook-On Chairs: Removable Restraint Poses Fall Hazard to Infants
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on May 21, 2026, that PandaEar is recalling about 9,700 portable hook-on chairs, recall number 26-502. The chairs' crotch restraints can be removed without the use of a tool, and infants can fall through an opening, posing a deadly fall hazard. The chairs violate the federal mandatory standard for portable hook-on chairs.
The recall involves two models, BTC-51 and C2102. The chairs are used to seat young children at the dining table. They have a black or gray metal frame covered with black, gray, or blue (dinosaur-themed) polyester and cotton fabric and an attached restraint in the seating area. Two metal arms with plastic covers anchor the chair to a dining table, and the child is suspended from the table. "Panda Ear" appears on a label stitched to the side of the fabric seat, and "Model C2102" appears on a label on the bottom of the seat; model BTC-51 has no markings on the product.
The chairs were sold online at Amazon.com from February 2022 through November 2025 for about $25. The seller, PandaEar, is based in Lake Dallas, Texas, and Rockville, Maryland, and the chairs were manufactured in China. No incidents or injuries had been reported as of the recall announcement.
Consumers should stop using the recalled chairs immediately and contact PandaEar for a full refund. They will be asked to disassemble the product, cut the restraint straps and fabric seat, and email photographs clearly showing the destroyed product and model label to [email protected].
The recall follows a CPSC product safety warning (26-269) issued on February 12, 2026. At that time, the Commission warned consumers to stop using the chairs and said it had requested a recall, but PandaEar had not agreed to an acceptable one; the recall was finalized three months later.
