Fromm Recalls Two Wet Dog Foods Over Possible Metal Contamination: 5,825 Cases, No Illnesses Reported
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a company announcement on August 21, 2026: Fromm Family Foods LLC of Mequon, Wisconsin, is recalling two canned wet dog foods because the products may be contaminated with metal. The recall covers 5,825 cases in total: 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté wet dog food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté wet dog food.
According to the announcement, dogs that ingest metal may show symptoms such as choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy or stomach discomfort; sharp pieces can lacerate the mouth and gastrointestinal tract, and larger amounts can cause gastrointestinal upset, partial blockage or intestinal obstruction. Owners whose dogs ate the affected product and show these symptoms should contact a veterinarian, and the products should no longer be fed.
The recalled products were distributed at neighborhood pet stores and online outlets in the United States and Canada. They can be identified by label: the Turkey Pâté comes in 12.2-ounce cans, UPC 072705118700, lot code EP2A3306 551006; the Milo's Meatloaf Pâté comes in 12.5-ounce cans, UPC 072705132324, lot code EP2A3306 551029; both carry a Best By date of 032029. No other Fromm products are affected.
The company said the recall was initiated after it received complaints of metal contamination, that it has identified the error, and that corrective actions have been put in place on top of its existing safety processes. To date, there have been no reports of illness or injury related to the recalled products.
Consumers who bought the affected cans are urged to return them to their retailer. Questions can be directed to the company at 1-800-325-6331, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time. The recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.
