New Florida Laws Take Effect October 1

[TALLAHASSEE] A batch of new Florida laws passed during this year's legislative session took effect October 1, spanning public safety, consumer protection, education and other areas, FOX 13 reported. State officials reminded residents to learn about the changes affecting them.
The measures include boosted school-safety funding, rules on specific business practices and adjusted penalties for certain traffic violations. The legislature passed hundreds of bills this year; some took effect July 1, with the remaining batch following on October 1.
The state attorney general's office said it will help the public understand the new laws via its website and community briefings. Legal professionals advised business owners to review compliance items to avoid inadvertent violations.
