Idaho Capitol Christmas Tree to Be Replaced Due to Disease

[BOISE] The Christmas tree in front of the Idaho State Capitol will be replaced after contracting an incurable disease, the-sun.com reported in early October. Arborists found the spruce afflicted with a hard-to-treat disease and warned it could become a falling hazard.
Capitol administrators said the diseased tree will be removed before the holiday season and a healthy replacement planted in its place. The annual Capitol tree-lighting ceremony is a Boise holiday tradition drawing many families.
Arborists noted that drought plus pests have stressed conifers across Idaho in recent years, advising residents to inspect yard trees regularly.
