Thursday, October 1, 2026 · States · GSM News

[TOPEKA] Energy-storage company Antora Energy announced October 1 it will build a 5.8 gigawatt-hour (GWh) thermal-storage project in Pratt, Kansas, cjonline reported. The facility will use thermal-storage technology to supply zero-carbon high-temperature heat to industrial customers.

Antora's approach converts renewable electricity into high-temperature heat stored in graphite blocks, released on demand for industrial use. The company said the Pratt project will be among the largest of its kind, serving decarbonization needs of nearby manufacturers.

The Kansas Department of Commerce welcomed the project, saying it fits the state's strategy to attract clean-energy manufacturing. The project is expected to create hundreds of construction jobs and dozens of permanent operations positions; a construction start date has not been announced.
