Two Plead Guilty in Minnesota Medicaid Housing-Services Fraud

[MINNEAPOLIS] Two defendants pleaded guilty in Minnesota federal court on October 1 to Medicaid housing-services fraud charges, FOX9 and the Justice Department reported. The pair admitted billing federal Medicaid funds for fictitious housing-stabilization services.
Prosecutors said the defendants' service agency billed for Medicaid beneficiaries who did not qualify or never received services, involving substantial sums. It is the latest in a string of Medicaid fraud cases in Minnesota in recent years.
Sentencing hearings for the two will be scheduled later; they face potential multi-year prison terms. Prosecutors said the investigation continues and further charges are possible.
The Minnesota attorney general's office reminded the public that Medicaid fraud is ultimately paid for by taxpayers and encouraged tipsters to report.
