Mazzei-Munson Gubernatorial Debate Airs in Only Head-to-Head Matchup
[OKLAHOMA CITY] The sole head-to-head debate between Oklahoma gubernatorial candidates Mazzei and Munson aired October 1, the Oklahoman reported, focusing on education funding, tax policy and rural health care.
The two clashed over teacher pay and property-tax reform proposals, and differed on how to keep rural hospitals open. Both pledged to prioritize cost-of-living issues if elected.
As the campaign's only direct confrontation, the debate is seen as a pivotal moment. Recent polls show the race close, and with Election Day approaching both campaigns have ramped up advertising.
