Trump Denies Jumping the Gun on South Korean Investment in Alaska LNG

President Donald Trump on October 2 denied he "jumped the gun" on South Korean investment in the Alaska LNG project, rejecting claims he overstated Seoul's commitments, Reuters reported.
Reports had questioned whether the administration prematurely announced South Korean participation while actual funding pledges remained unclear. Trump countered that the project is moving forward and South Korea's involvement is set.
The Alaska LNG project would pipe North Slope gas to a southern port for liquefaction and export — a long-planned Alaska energy megaproject whose financing remains under close watch, with Asian buyers such as South Korea and Japan seen as critical.
Alaska's state government voiced optimism, saying multiple prospective investors are conducting due diligence. Energy analysts note growing global LNG demand favors the project, though uncertainty over the massive investment remains.
