Friday, October 2, 2026 · States · GSM News

Three University of South Alabama students were arrested October 2 over alleged threats made on the day President Trump held a rally at Mobile's Mitchell Center, USA Today and the New York Post reported.

Police said the three posted rally-related threatening statements on social media; after assessment, officers deemed the risk credible and made arrests. The investigation continues, with few details released.

Trump's rally went ahead as scheduled, drawing a large crowd of supporters. Organizers said security was in place and the event was unaffected. The Secret Service and local police stepped up patrols around the venue.

The University of South Alabama said it is cooperating with investigators and that the students' enrollment status will be handled under school policy. Threats against political rallies have occurred from time to time in recent years; law enforcement treats every such lead seriously and acts swiftly.
