CBP Officers Seize Nearly 65 Pounds of Methamphetamine Worth $595,000 at Del Rio Port of Entry

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on October 2 that its officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas recently seized more than $595,000 in methamphetamine.
The seizure occurred on September 28 at the Del Rio International Bridge import facility, when an officer referred a 2018 Ford Transit van driven by a 59-year-old male lawful permanent resident for secondary inspection. Using a nonintrusive inspection system and a physical examination, officers found 81 packages containing 64.73 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden in the driver's side quarter panel of the van, with an estimated street value of $595,185.
Del Rio Port Director Liliana Flores said stopping hard narcotics at the ports of entry is a top priority and that the seizure highlights officers' daily work and the agency's layered enforcement strategy. CBP seized the narcotics, and Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested the driver and opened a criminal investigation.
