Louisiana Secretary of State Issues RFP for New Auditable Paper-Ballot Voting System

Louisiana's Secretary of State issued a request for proposals October 2 for a new statewide voting system built around auditable paper ballots, replacing aging equipment, according to sos.la.gov.
The RFP requires voter-verifiable paper records, robust audit functions, and accessible voting interfaces meeting federal and state security certifications. The office said paper-ballot auditability is key to election transparency and public trust.
Louisiana's current voting machines have been in service for years, with rising failure rates and maintenance costs. Election officials call replacing them a necessary investment in future elections.
The bidding is open to qualified vendors nationwide. Evaluation and pilot testing are expected in the coming months, with a full rollout timeline to follow contract award.
