The order relaxes weight restrictions for trucks hauling farm products and eases diesel-supply rules, addressing both the harvest logistics crunch and high diesel prices. The governor's office said harvest is Missouri agriculture's most critical window, and keeping transport moving directly affects farm income.

Missouri is a major farm state with soybeans and corn now being harvested. Diesel prices have stayed elevated this year, leaving farmers paying well above historical fuel costs — every cent saved in transport matters.

Farm groups welcomed the order, saying it will tangibly cut harvest-season transport costs. The order covers the full harvest season; the state transportation department will coordinate enforcement to see the relief implemented while keeping roads safe.
