Bull Fire Burns 150 Acres Near Verdi; Evacuation Warning for West Reno
The Bull Fire erupted near Verdi, Nevada, on October 2, burning about 150 acres as strong winds pushed flames toward residential areas, the Reno Gazette Journal reported.
Fire officials issued a "get set" evacuation warning for parts of west Reno, urging residents to gather essentials and be ready to leave. Multiple ground crews and air tankers joined the attack; the cause is under investigation.
Verdi sits west of Reno near the California line, backed by forested mountains. Dry, windy fall weather typifies northern Nevada's fire season, and emergency managers urged residents to sign up for emergency alerts for updates.
Officials explained that "get set" is the second of three evacuation readiness levels, meaning the fire could escalate and residents should be ready to go at a moment's notice. No structures have burned; crews will work through the night to gain control before winds ease.
