Oklahoma Woman Charged With Illegal Voting While Wearing Ankle Monitor

Sara Polston was charged October 2 with illegal voting in Oklahoma after casting a ballot while on felony probation and wearing an ankle monitor, The Oklahoman reported.
Oklahoma law bars people convicted of felonies from voting until their sentences, including probation, are fully discharged. Prosecutors allege Polston voted knowing she was ineligible — a felony. She has not publicly responded.
Election integrity has drawn close attention in Oklahoma in recent years; lawmakers passed a voter-ID verification bill last year. What makes this case unusual is that Polston entered the polling place wearing a conspicuous ankle monitor, yet poll workers did not flag her eligibility.
The state election board reminds citizens with felony records to confirm their eligibility with county offices before voting. Those who have completed their sentences may apply to restore voting rights; county election offices can explain the process.
