Raleigh Launches Affordable-Housing Dashboard Tracking 5,900 Homes

Friday, October 2, 2026 · City · GSM News

Raleigh is a city in Wake County, North Carolina. The City of Raleigh launched an interactive Housing Production Dashboard on October 2, putting the location, timing and funding of the city's affordable housing stock online in a single public tool.

City officials said the dashboard maps more than 5,900 affordable homes Raleigh has helped create or preserve, and tracks how money from the city's 2020 Affordable Housing Bond has been committed. The same data underline the scale of the challenge: a household needs to earn nearly $66,000 a year to afford a two-bedroom apartment at fair-market rent, and the city lacks roughly 38,000 homes affordable to households earning between $15,000 and $35,000. Homeownership stands at 74 percent for white households versus 47 percent for Black households.

Officials said publishing the numbers gives residents and builders a shared factual basis for the city's ongoing housing debate.
