Wyoming Governor Signs Two Executive Orders Easing Farm Transport Rules Amid High Fuel Prices

Friday, October 2, 2026 · States · GSM News

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed two executive orders October 2 to ease high fuel prices' burden on agriculture: relaxing height and weight limits for farm-product haulers and waiving certain Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration hours-of-service rules, Wyoming media reported.

The orders let trucks hauling seasonal farm goods operate above standard limits during harvest and extend drivers' hours to keep crops moving. The governor's office said high fuel prices have sharply raised ranchers' costs, and regulatory relief is direct, effective help.

Wyoming is a major ranching state where beef and hay depend on trucking, and transport is a sizable share of production costs. Agricultural groups backed the orders, saying they will help producers stay viable through harvest.

The orders run through the end of harvest season. The state transportation department reminded carriers that basic safety rules still apply and that oversize moves need route pre-clearance to protect bridges and roads.
