Regaled Goes Last to First to Repeat in Delaware Handicap

STANTON, Del. — Regaled went from last to first to successfully defend her title in the Grade 3 Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park on Oct. 3, the Paulick Report reported. The $600,000 race drew a competitive field of fillies and mares, and Regaled unleashed a powerful late run to surge past the field in the stretch.
Reserved near the back of the pack early, Regaled was patiently handled by her rider to save ground. Turning for home, she quickened impressively on the outside, sweeping past rivals one by one to win going away.
Her trainer said afterward that Regaled has held her form well since last year's victory and the team was confident about the repeat bid. The owners were elated, saying the mare always shows her fighting spirit when it matters most.
The Delaware Handicap is a signature event of Delaware Park's summer meet and a landmark staying race for fillies and mares. Regaled's repeat triumph capped this year's running in style and thrilled the on-track crowd.
