Poll: Kansas Senate Race a Dead Heat, Hamilton and Marshall Tied at 45-45

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas U.S. Senate race is a dead heat, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll released Oct. 3: Democratic challenger Hamilton and Republican incumbent Sen. Roger Marshall are tied at 45-45, Political Wire reported. The result puts a seat once considered safely Republican in play.
With the candidates locked even and enough undecided voters to swing the outcome, both campaigns are bracing for a sprint to the finish. Though Kansas is traditionally Republican, recent surprises — including the abortion-rights referendum — have Democrats hopeful about flipping the seat.
Marshall's camp said the poll underestimates GOP base enthusiasm and expressed confidence about holding the seat. Hamilton's team countered that a tie itself favors the challenger, pledging to ramp up grassroots mobilization.
Analysts say the Kansas Senate contest is now one of the key battlegrounds in the fight for Senate control, with ad spending and ground games set to intensify. Election Day is Nov. 3.
