COLUMBIA, Mo. — No. 25 Missouri stunned No. 8 Florida 45-17 on Oct. 3 at Faurot Field, delivering one of college football's biggest upsets of the week, the Columbia Tribune reported. The Tigers seized control from the opening kick and never let the visiting Gators into the game.
Missouri's offense fired on all cylinders with a balanced ground and air attack, while the defense forced Florida into repeated mistakes. The highly ranked Gators looked flat on both sides of the ball in a humbling defeat.
The win dramatically improves Missouri's standing in the SEC and boosts its playoff hopes. The head coach praised the team's execution after the game, singling out the defense's dominant performance.
Tens of thousands of home fans witnessed the rout, erupting as the final whistle sounded. Missouri hits the road next looking to keep the momentum going; Florida must regroup quickly to shake off the loss.
